"Committed to telling Sierra Leone’s history through its own voice, engaging both local communities and the diaspora in cultural preservation."

Academic Background

Francis Musa Momoh is a Sierra Leonean American trained anthropologist and Fulbright Alumnus who earned his Master of Arts in Anthropology at Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, specializing in historical archaeology.

His academic journey has been defined by a rigorous exploration of historical narratives and the material culture of African societies, with a particular focus on how archaeology can reconstruct the "silenced" histories of the past.

Professional Contributions

Over the years, he has volunteered and privately pioneered projects through the MCAFRIC legacy program, his Historian and Herstorian Brand, and the Black Excellence Celebration to name a few in Sierra Leone and other global partnerships.

Currently, he serves as a part-time lecturer of Ethnography, Public History, and Comparative Slavery in the Department of History and African Studies at Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone. This role allows him to contribute directly to his alma mater and the development of the next generation of African historians.

Momoh’s work emphasizes heritage as a bridge to identity, education, empowerment, and global connection. His leadership at the Momoh Center for African Life and Culture is driven by the goal to intensify knowledge of Africa’s rich and diverse heritage and foster cultural dignity on a global scale.
